How it all started
The creation of MPS was never planned it literally just happened ! It was 2001 when I personally got fed up with the gear that I was using falling to bits, snapping , the so called "enamel" paint falling off and generally very poor quality.
So off I went to the local Scrap metal Merchants and bought a few bits of Stainless Steel which would slide inside each other. A few days later I had made some usable Bank sticks. Things progressed as numerous Anglers saw the gear I had made for myself and asked if I would make some gear for them as well ,the rest is just history as they say.
The First major design was the GE4 pod which is about as radical a design as it gets ,only two prototypes were ever built , at the time it was just too complicated to produce, but now its a different matter - production would not be a problem. To this day in my view and everybody else's who ever saw or used one of those two prototypes it was one of the best set-ups ever built. One day when the time is right it will be produced.
Next came the Trident for which MPS has become famous ,again a radical new concept designed at the request of a friend who wanted a pod that could be broken down into separate bank sticks for winter piking. Other variants of the concept have been developed -The NS pod , The Trident Chassis etc.......
Then came the Scorpion Indicator ,which was designed for my own use on a local power station Reservoir for fishing tight up to a mass of RSJ Girders at 80 yards range, no indicator on the market could cope with the situation ,the Scorpion with a 1 1/2lb test curve rod inserted nailed them every time! But then the line clips would not cope with the extra tension - the Multi-head was then developed to overcome this problem.
From the very start Quality has been paramount, always the very best materials and assembly methods have been used to fit the application. Take the Augers in the base of bank sticks- these are Pressed , Bonded , crimped and pinned into place, because this is recognised weak spot.
Many ask "whats the Defiant bit about?" well it would have been very easy to ship a design out to the far east via an agent and sit back and do nothing . But MPS became "Defiant!" and rather than down grade products MPS has always tried to upgrade and improve products constantly.
A large percentage of products are of a "Custom" nature, so if your after something unique "Just ask!" Please note : - Never ask MPS to copy another company's design, this is a strict company policy.
